In June 2020, we published a briefing in which we examined the recent developments in ESG financing within the aviation sector, as well as the potential impact of Covid-19 as a catalyst for growth in this area.[1] One of the key challenges identified was that ESG financings in the aviation sector would need to overcome accusations of "greenwashing" given that aviation has traditionally been viewed as a polluting industry.
