Martin Le Touzé focuses on complex disputes where he acts for global companies in contentious matters before courts.

Martin has experience in class action proceedings and other big ticket litigations representing clients before first instance courts, or at the appellate level in relation to commercial litigation, financial litigation, corporate disputes, and insurance disputes.

Martin also has longstanding experience representing clients in enforcement and disciplinary proceedings brought by the French financial regulators (namely the AMF or the ACPR). In his career, he has gained substantial experience in AML-CFT related matters, having handled several major cases before the ACPR. Additionally, he has strong experience in the market abuse field from his involvement in sophisticated cases before the AMF.

He regularly publishes articles in both French and English. He also provides training on market abuse issues to law enforcement authorities.

Martin is co-head of the EMEA Disputes Practice Area (EDPA) for Financial Services Litigation.

Furthermore, he also acts as Risk Partner and MLRO for the Paris office at Herbert Smith Freehills.

Background

Martin graduated from University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas with a Professional Master’s degree in Banking and Financial Law, and from EM Lyon business school where he graduated from the high school program.

  • assisting an international insurance company in the framework of disciplinary proceedings before the ACPR Enforcement Committee for alleged breaches of regulations applicable to pension insurance contracts
  • assisting a Swedish financial services company in the context of a post-acquisition dispute against a large European bank regarding the secured nature of some loans included in the portfolio that the Swedish financial services company acquired from the European bank.
