With over 25 years of experience, Hew is one of the leading international construction, projects and infrastructure dispute lawyers currently working in China.
Regularly advising clients in complex cross-border disputes, Hew has acted for both Chinese and international clients in court litigations, arbitrations and mediations in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Stockholm and London.
Splitting his time between Shanghai and Beijing, Hew lectures on PRC and international contract forms and construction law issues at seminars organised by the Chinese government. He is a member of the China International Economic & Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC)'s Panel of Arbitrators and has conducted CIETAC arbitrations both as counsel and arbitrator.
Hew's experience includes advising:
- China's State Development and Reform Commission on the drafting of the PRC Bidding Law
- ZPMC in a multi-million US dollar TTC court action in England arising out of the delivery of alleged defective piles on the Grater Gabbard offshore windfarm project
- a major Chinese international contractor in an ICC (London) arbitration of a dispute arising from the construction of a cement production facility in Turkey
- a major Chinese contractor on various issues arising during the implementation of the development of an offshore oil field in the neutral zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia
- a Chinese contractor on the contract negotiations for a mass housing project in Angola

Background
Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, Hew graduated with a bachelor's degree in law from the National University of Singapore. He qualified as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore and is also qualified to practice in Hong Kong and England & Wales.
