Daniel Woods
Daniel is a senior associate in our disputes practice in London.
Daniel has experience of a broad range of disputes in the UK and in Asia. Whilst based in our London office, Daniel has worked on numerous high-profile and high-value disputes in the High Court, the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the UK Supreme Court. Between 2015 and mid-2017, Daniel was on secondment in HSF's Bangkok office where he worked on a broad range of disputes, primarily arbitration, in Thailand and across South-East Asia and Asia.
Daniel has worked with clients in a broad range of industry sectors including technology, transport, finance, mining, and energy.
He specialises in complex commercial disputes with particular experience of class actions, procurement law disputes and technology disputes.
Daniel trained at HSF in London and during his training contract spent six months on secondment in the Legal Department of IBM.
Background
Daniel studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at University College, Oxford before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London. In 2015, Daniel qualified as a Solicitor Advocate.

- A European Truck Manufacturer in regard to competition follow-on damages claims commenced in the UK and across the European Union (including an application for collective proceedings in the Competition Appeal Tribunal)
- A UK government entity in defending a challenge brought to the award of a significant infrastructure contract following procurement
- A major Thai technology company in a HKIAC administered arbitration under UNCITRAL rules.• ICBC Standard Bank in regard to a dispute with Sabre Oil & Gas, in relation to funding for the development of the Jubilee Oil field (offshore Ghana)
- Goldman Sachs in relation to claims brought by the Libyan Investment Authority to recover substantial sums in respect of derivatives trades executed in 2008
- A major international IT supplier on a substantial sub-contractor dispute under an IT systems development and outsourcing agreement
