Her appointment as Singapore managing partner expands the firm's leadership team in Southeast Asia to reflect and support ongoing growth.

Partner Alastair Henderson will continue in his role as Southeast Asia managing partner, while Fatim assumes leadership of the Singapore practice.

A Singapore permanent resident and head of the firm's Asia employment law practice, Fatim will begin her new role on 1 January 2022.

"Client demand is soaring across our Asia practice, including for legal services in Singapore," said Herbert Smith Freehills' Asia managing partner May Tai

"Adding this new leadership role will allow Alastair to continue to drive expansion in the wider Southeast Asia region while Fatim leads the Singapore practice through a significant period of growth.”

"An excellent lawyer, Fatim has worked both in house and in private practice, starting her career as a barrister. Her diverse experience of the law and business is perfectly suited for such a transformational time for our Asia practice and our profession."
