Herbert Smith Freehills has been recognised in the top tier of the 2022 Chambers & Partners Crisis and Risk Management Guide.

The firm achieved Band 1 ranking in both the UK and Global-wide guides, becoming the only firm recognised in the elite category across both Guides.

According to Chambers', Herbert Smith Freehills' team is known 'for offering a sophisticated crisis management practice' to help clients meet challenges including insolvency, executive misconduct, catastrophic cyber incidents and serious reputational threats.  Chambers' review also noted that the firm's multinational clients rely on Herbert Smith Freehills' lawyers 'deep sector expertise and crisis experience across numerous jurisdictions'.

Damien Byrne Hill, joint managing partner of Herbert Smith Freehills' disputes practice, says: "To be the only firm recognised in the top tier of Chambers' Crisis and Risk Management Guide is a proud moment for the team, particularly as our achievement reflects client feedback extolling the depth of expertise we offer and way we deliver."

Chambers & Partners research is conducted across 200 jurisdictions to provide independent analysis, insight and rankings of the world's leading lawyers and law firms. Its rankings are based on lawyers' technical legal ability, business planning and client commentary.

In this year's Guide, clients commented that Herbert Smith Freehills' key strengths were identified as providing 'astute legal assistance and focused handling of all of matters, across various jurisdictions' with one noting that 'as a firm they can cover anything that I throw them.'

Byrne Hill adds: "Our ambition is to blend the best that technology and digitalisation has to offer with a collaborative approach so that clients benefit from a combination of emotional and artificial intelligence. Whilst we cannot rest on our laurels I am proud that the team has been recognised in such a prestigious way."

Greg Mulley, corporate and M&A partner who co-leads Herbert Smith Freehills' crisis management practice, says: "To secure independent recognition for our collaborative, cross-practice, approach is particularly pleasing as it highlights the impact we have for clients by bringing the very best talent and expertise together, no matter where our teams are based."
