2017-2018年の日本企業による豪州でのM&A の動向

日本の豪州への直接投資は米国に次ぎ世界第二位。オーストラリア統計局のデータでは、2017年5月時 点で日本の対豪投資は累積ベースで910億豪ドルに達し、2009年時点から倍増している。
1957年に日豪通商協定が締結されて以降、日本の対豪投資の重要性は変わることはないが、投資目的は 変化している。1960年代から2000年代半ばまでは、鉱物資源、エネルギー、食料品の確保（日本への輸 入）を主たる目的とし、投資の多くは地場合弁企業へのマイノリティ出資であった。
他方、直近10年では、日本国内の高齢化・人口減少傾向への対応策として、最近の日本企業の投資は、業 容拡大のための海外市場への進出に主眼が置かれている。
