Leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has promoted Azlin Ahmad to partner in Kuala Lumpur.

Azlin has over 23 years' experience in Malaysia and the Middle East, in both Islamic and conventional finance, with skills that range from sukuk and murabaha to project finance and restructuring.

"Since joining us as part of our launch team in Kuala Lumpur in 2018, Azlin has advocated tirelessly for the development of Islamic finance in Malaysia, and contributed to numerous legal training and pro bono and charitable initiatives," said Kuala Lumpur managing partner Peter Godwin.

"Her understanding of regional and international banks, corporates, regulators and governments active in the Islamic finance market warrants this promotion, and I am delighted to welcome her to the partnership."

Azlin joins Peter and recently relocated construction disputes partner Craig Shepherd in the Kuala Lumpur partnership.
