Austin is an experienced practitioner in corporate and commercial matters.



His practice includes advising clients on corporate finance, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and securities offerings.

Austin has also worked in the firm’s London, Tokyo and Hong Kong offices.

  • INPEX on its US$1.375 billion acquisition of Lukoil’s 10% interest in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil field project 
  • Morgan Stanley on the establishment and disposal of a number of property investments 
  • China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) on its £3.5 billion international offering and triple listing in Hong Kong, London and New York 
  • British American Tobacco on its €2.7 billion acquisition of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni’s (Scandinavian Tobacco Company’s) cigarette business, its US$485 million acquisition of PT Bentoel and its Myanmar joint venture
  • Sumitomo on its US$110 million acquisition of Scomi’s machine tools business in eight jurisdictions across the Middle East and Asia 
  • Royal Bank of Scotland on the £800 million disposal of its Center Parcs portfolio 
  • Temasek on the establishment together with the Oppenheimer Group of a US$300 million fund to invest in consumer goods and agricultural products across Africa 
  • Rockpoint Group on its £410 million structured acquisition of a London real estate asset
  • Goldman Sachs on its US$110 million investment in Den Networks, its investment in the Indian FMCG vehicle Global Beverages and Foods and its US$100 in Indian e-tailer Pepperfry
