Herbert Smith Freehills has been recognised for its excellence in dispute resolution and litigation in the annual Benchmark Asia-Pacific Awards.

The firm’s Disputes practice has picked up three team awards in recognition of its achievements over the past 12 months.  At the same time, two Herbert Smith Freehills lawyers have been recognised for their individual client contributions over the past year.

The firm won the following awards:

  • Firm of the Year – Australia
  • Lawyer of the Year – Australia (Jason Betts)
  • White Collar Crime Firm of the Year
  • International Firm of the Year
  • International Firm Lawyer of the Year (Kyle Wombolt).

In addition, the firm’s work in cases having a major impact has also been acknowledged. As one example, award judges highlighted Herbert Smith Freehills advice in a matter involving ACCC and CDPP against Citigroup Global Markets Australia, with the case regarded as a landmark criminal cartel prosecution.

Commenting on the award wins, Anna Sutherland, joint managing partner for Herbert Smith Freehills’ global dispute resolution practice, says:

“It is a tremendous honour for the firm to be so widely recognised by such prestigious awards. At a time when our clients are facing challenges like never before, it is critical that they can rely on trusted advice and the combination of team and individual recognition is testament to the passion and commitment we are determined to continue providing.”
