For the sixth consecutive year, Herbert Smith Freehills has been named a top global law firm by Law360, taking the number six spot this year on its prestigious Global 20 list.

The firm is recognized for having a strong global offering and for making "big waves in South America, the U.S., Europe, Russia, Africa and Asia last year in the areas of arbitration, mergers and acquisitions, disputes, energy, infrastructure, investigations and more."

Law360 noted, "Herbert Smith Freehills saw continued growth in emerging markets, represented clients connected to the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election and kept up its dominance in the arbitration market with a big win for Costa Rica."

In addition to the firm's traditionally strong and globally-focused practice areas, like arbitration and investigations, Law360 highlighted the firm's ability to collaborate across its 27 offices in a "diverse range of successful or rising practice areas."

To arrive at the Global 20 list, Law360 surveyed law firms about their global attorney headcounts, office locations and cross-border and international work between April 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019. Law360 then ranked participating firms based on five factors including: the percentage of the firm's attorneys located outside its home country; the number of offices outside the firm's home country; the number of countries where the firm has at least one office; the practice area breadth of the firm's cross-border and international work; and the size and complexity of the firm's cross-border and international work.
