Herbert Smith Freehills’ venture capital team has advised RDO Group on its Series Seed capital raise and corporate restructure.

The RDO Group platform is an award-winning cloud-based online dispute resolution technology that provides streamlined case management, evidence sharing, secure case communication and specialist negotiation, mediation and arbitration workflows. RDO has been recognized by the United Nations Justice Taskforce as a global leader in online dispute resolution and has customers in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America.

The round was funded by ImageSoft, Inc., a US-based technology company specialising in workflow solutions and court case management systems. The partnership with ImageSoft will provide capital to enable the further development of the RDO platform and facilitate the company’s expansion into the US and Canada.

The Herbert Smith Freehills team was led by partner and Head of Venture Capital Peter Dunne and solicitor Myra Beal.

Myra Beal said, “Access to justice is an issue that is front of mind for lawyers. RDO is a great example of Australian technology gaining momentum on the world stage and tackling a global problem. It was great to advise RDO on this transaction, which will enable the company to continue product development and expand into the US market and reach more customers.”

RDO Founder Joe Al-Khayat said, “It was terrific working closely with Peter and Myra on this important milestone in RDO's journey. Their guidance and expertise provides us an excellent platform to accelerate our work in combating growing access to justice problems around the world.”
