Max is a senior associate in the Competition, Regulation and Trade group based in London.

Max specialises in EU and UK competition law, with particular experience in EU and national merger control filings and antitrust investigations and advice (anti-competitive agreements and abuses of dominance). He also has significant experience advising on UK regulatory law and EU and UK sports law. 

Max has been involved in cases before the UK competition authorities and the European Commission and has particular experience of the energy, financial services, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, telecoms and sports sectors. He also has significant experience in UK regulatory law, particularly in the electricity and gas sector. In the sports sector, Max has provided extensive advice on EU and UK sports law and, particularly, its interaction with competition law and has assisted clients with the regulatory requirements and risks around the acquisition of UK sports clubs. 

Background

Max is dual-qualified as a barrister in England & Wales and in the Republic of Ireland. Before joining Herbert Smith Freehills, he practiced competition law in Brussels and London for seven years.
