Graeme is a litigator with over thirty years’ experience in commercial litigation at every level. He has a specialist expertise in public law.
Graeme regularly advises corporations in relation to their dealings with state and federal governments and vice versa. He advises on:
- government tendering and contracting, including limitations on the executive power and the exercise of administrative discretions
- constitutional limitations on power such as freedom of trade and commerce, compensation for acquisition of property and interference with property rights
- freedom of (government) information access requests and resisting the disclosure of commercially sensitive information
- judicial and merits review
- tax and duty disputes
- statutory interpretation
Background
Graeme joined Herbert Smith Freehills in 1986 and was appointed as a commercial litigation partner in 1992. He holds Bachelor of Arts and Laws degrees from the Australian National University, where he was awarded a university medal in 1983.
