Herbert Smith Freehills is strengthening its alternative legal services (ALT) offering with the launch of a robust new cloud platform.  Designed to support the firm’s legal teams wherever they are located and irrespective of data size, the new platform ensures clients benefit from a truly global ‘follow-the-sun’ global eDiscovery service delivery.

The platform provides demand-driven scalability, high speed data transfers and processing capabilities designed to handle large data volumes. It also provides a single point of access for global teams and clients, with multiple layers of security and user-permissions that can be adapted for different regional teams.

Whilst scale, speed and security were a priority, the platform also had to enable teams in different locations to work seamlessly as one. By incorporating an automated ticketing system in to the platform design, ALT’s eDiscovery and Legal Review teams, which operate in the UK, Asia-Pacific, the US and EMEA, have streamlined their service delivery, resource management and quality assurance.

As the volume and complexity of case data grows ALT’s global eDiscovery team is now able to focus on targeting the data that really matters.

Demand for seamless delivery of high-quality eDiscovery services is at the forefront of our clients’ minds  as courts, regulators and adversaries impose increasing pressure on providers to process burgeoning data volumes within condensed timeframes. These requirements, coupled with cyber security and data privacy concerns, and increasingly rigid data sovereignty and security obligations, present a monumental challenge for law firms and their clients. This latest investment in technology and people demonstrates our continued commitment to deliver value-added eDiscovery and legal services for our clients,” says Stephanie Barrett, head of eDiscovery & legal technology in Herbert Smith Freehills’ ALT team.

Developed by Herbert Smith Freehills in partnership with Epiq, the new platform has been designed by multi-disciplinary teams to meet multi-jurisdictional standards.

It’s been rewarding to partner with Herbert Smith Freehills in developing this first-of-its-kind platform. Together we envisioned and built a truly modern and global service platform that provides on-demand access to powerful eDiscovery technologies and processes, allowing clients access to consistent, high quality eDiscovery services in a highly agile way," says Roger Pilc, president, Legal Solutions at Epiq
