Global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills today announced that Dr Steffen Hoerner will join its Frankfurt office as a Tax partner on 1 July 2019. He is the firm's first Tax partner in Germany.

Steffen joins the firm from Hengeler Mueller where he was a counsel. He brings to Herbert Smith Freehills substantial experience in all areas of German and international tax law. He advises clients on tax aspects of acquisitions, sales and mergers, and on capital market and financing transactions. He also advises on tax aspects in connection with internal investigations and compliance matters, and represents clients in disputes and arbitration proceedings. His sector focus covers Manufacturing & Industrials, TMT, Consumer Products, Real Estate, Private Equity and Financial Services.

Herbert Smith Freehills recently strengthened its Competition, Regulation and Trade practice in Germany with the promotion of Dr Marcel Nuys and Dr Marius Boewe to partners, and the addition of Dr Florian Huerkamp as a counsel in May.
