Herbert Smith Freehills has advised the founders of German fintech company heidelpay and investor AnaCap Financial Partners on the sale of a majority shareholding in heidelpay Group to New York based investment firm KKR. In 2017, Herbert Smith Freehills advised the founders of heidelpay on their sale of a majority stake to AnaCap.

The team from Herbert Smith Freehills advised together with a team from Proskauer who in 2017 advised AnaCap on their investment in heidelpay Group. Mirko Hüllemann, founder and CEO of heidelpay, and other key managers will remain as long-term shareholders. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to approval by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).
